ALL of Waitui Marina's 22 moorings located in Nakama Creek, Savusavu,
Vanua Levu are Helix Moorings, with 3 meters of 19mm (3/4") studded ship's chain to prevent the mooring line
from chafing on the bottom.
We have them inspected twice a year at the beginning, and the end, of the
cruising season, and and then repaired as needed. You may inspect photo's of your mooring if you wish in the
office.
The manufacturerer of the moorings has this to say:
High-Holding:
Our anchors derive their
holding from the soils into which they are screwed. The Square Shaft anchors
are installed with the aid of hydraulics to screw the anchor through resisting
soils. Our anchors have been repeatedly tested by Mother Nature and tugboats
with load measuring equipment. The results of
the first test (performed in Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts, under the watchful
eye of area harbor masters, a marine industry reporter, and a representative
of Boat/US) are typical of all the load tests performed.

There are other companies hiring moorings in Vanua Levu, but none of them care enough about the security
of your vessel (which, if you are like most cruisers, is the sole sum of your assets!) to have gone to such
great lengths as installing the highest quality moorings available today.
Thinking about leaving your vessel in Fiji during the cyclone season? No problem! Not only will we keep watch over
your yacht, but our rates are greatly reduced during the off-season. Security and savings, what every sailor
is looking for! |
