Waitui Marina Building A quick call to 'Waitui Marina' on VHF Channel 16 (or on the telephone to 679-885-3031 or 679-997-2558 after hours), will yield a prompt response. You will be met by our dock staff who will guide you to your mooring. If you are coming in early, just pick up any of the ORANGE mooring buoys (since they are inspected twice annually, they're all safe.
Waitui Marina Building Our bright red roof to your starboard as you're entering Nakama Creek is a very notable landmark!

We have the certified diver photograph all of our moorings from the seabed up, so you can inspect the photo's yourself!
Officials Going to Process Yacht in Savusavu We'll arrange for all of the relevant officials to visit your vessel (at no charge if you stay on one of our moorings!), and take them out to your vessel, without any charge!
Waitui Club Savusavu We have a dinghy dock for your convienence, as well as hot water showers (highly recommended after a long passage!).

As a special service, you may use our chest freezer during the day to store your provisions to save trips back and forth to your yacht.
Waitui Club Savusavu Of course, during your provisioning you are going to get a bit thirsty, just pop into the Waitui Club for a full range of wines, beer, cocktails, and soft drinks.

Navigation Cautions for Yachts Entering Savusavu, Vanua Levu, Fiji Islands
  • The Point Passage light lies on the INSIDE of the reef, about 50 meters east of the actual end of the reef. Chart legends show it as being a lighthouse, in truth it is more on the lines of a light standard sticking up on the reef. It is mostly, but not always, lit.

  • The rocks on the west side of Point Passage only break with a West to Southwest swell. In other words, although the reef passage is almost a nautical mile wide, there is such a thing as too much caution in leaving a wide berth to the light.

  • As you approach Savusavu from the Point Passage light, you cannot see Savusavu, but you will see the Copra Mill in Balaga Bay, which lies to the North-East of Savusavu. Although it's a nice, quiet anchorage to visit (so long as the wind is not from the west), it IS NOT Savusavu!

  • There is a mooring for the bows of the inter-island ferrys west of the Main Dock. If there is a ferry at the dock, it is probable that there is a line between the mooring buoy and the ferry. Based only on observation, no cruising yacht has been successful in moving the ferry by pushing on the mooring line. The mooring buoy's position, as determined by S/V Jill Diane is 16˚ 46.597'S 179˚ 19.492'E. This reference is provided for your convienence and is to be used at your own risk.

  • There is a channel marker as you enter Nakama Creek that you should leave to your port side. An avoidance waypoint, as determined by S/V Jill Diane is 16˚ 46.659'S 179˚ 19.796'E. This reference is provided for your convienence and is to be used at your own risk.

  • If you look off your starboard beam as you pass, you can see the Waitui Marina Building. Hope to see you here soon!
